The 24th Annual St. John 8 Tuff Miles Road Race Festival
Saturday, February 29, 2020
This 8.38 mile course starts and finishes at or very close to sea level. The temperature at the 7:15 AM start time is usually in the low 80s. Only the last 100 yards of this course are grass. The rest of the course is pavement and patched pot holes. Just prior to the 5 mile mark you will reach an elevation of 999 feet. This is the highest on-course elevation and it will be marked with a Cool Sign Banner. Cool Signs is the sponsor of the Highest Point. Nine (9) water stations serving both water &/or Gatorade are staffed by local residents who dont always feel like running. Each year an award is given to, "The Best Water Station" during the award ceremony which takes place at Mongoose Junction, Cruz Bay at 4:00 PM on race day. During the award ceremony a BBQ serving roasted pig, chicken & a vegetarian dish are available to those who were entries, volunteers &/or sponsors. Its not a full dinner. Its just appetizers. St. John Brewers will provide a couple of kegs of ale paired with your appetizers. This is an important part of your race day & it should not be missed. Besides that you paid for it if youre an entry. This race provides a SAG wagon which means we will transport your small back pack to the finish line for you so you can go to beach or Skinny Legs or somewhere else after the race and have your money, camera, CC. Twenty-three years and nothing has ever gone missing. Just make your way back to Cruz Bay (the starting line area ) for the 4:00 PM awards party. Oh ya, live music too! There is more info about this race/party at www.8tuffmiles.com. If you've got questions please ask them early on. It gets real busy close to race day and questions are not always answered.
