Strollin' for the Colon - Toni's Race
LOCATION: Mendon Ponds Park, Stewart Lodge Henrietta, NY
Colon Cancer is the second-leading cancer killer for both men and women in the United States. Although research has shown that screening for colon cancer saves lives, screening rates still remain too low. Awareness of the need to screen for this preventable disease is urgently needed in our region. Toward that end, the Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology at the University of Rochester Medical Center and Strollin' for the Colon is sponsoring the 9th Annual Strollin for the Colon 5K Run/Walk - Toni's Race on May 9, 2020 in Rochester, NY.
All proceeds from this event will remain local to help spread awareness, education and research for Colon Cancer. Our efforts last year were able to help provide generous donations to many important efforts including Livingston County Public Health to continue to promote colorectal cancer screening in the region, Causewave Community Partners to support their "Get Screened Finger Lakes" campaign, American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge, and the Wilmot Cancer Center Patient Needs Fund. Along with these, Strollin' for the Colon was able to help fund colon cancer research efforts of Dr. Michael Drage, Assistant Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
All who register by Monday, April 27th, 2020 will recieve a Race T- shirt. Packet Pick up is Friday May 8, 2020 from 3pm until 7:30pm at: Medved Running & Walking Outfitters, 3400 Monroe Ave Rochester, NY 14618
